Family, friends, and acquaintances remember David for his warmth, thoughtfulness, and the moments shared together. He was predeceased by: his former wife Jan Robertson Petty; and his sons, Samuel David Petty and Paul David Petty. He is survived by: his wife Kathy Spalding Petty; his stepsons, Alan Carouth (Lisa) and Anthony Kelly (Mary); his daughter-in-law Lilia Petty; and his siblings, Ann Amerson (Guy), Doug Petty (Cindy), Joan Arnold (Eddie) and Joy Miller (Dan). He is also survived by nine grandchildren, and several great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
A funeral service was held on Saturday, September 12th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church (951 Hwy 2247, Comanche, TX 76442). A burial was held on Saturday, September 12th 2026 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the Memory Cemetery.
