Richard Lee McCandless Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Richard Lee McCandless on February 17, 2025. Richard was born on May 7, 1959, in Galveston, Texas, and lived a life filled with music, love, and devotion to his family.

Richard had a passion for playing his guitar, a talent that brought joy to those around him. Above all, he cherished his family, leaving behind a legacy of warmth and connection.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Shirley and Omer Sweat, his wife, Debbie McCandless, and his sister, Elizabeth Sanders.

Richard is survived by his son, Richard McCandless Perry, and his wife, Mary Jane Perry; his brothers, Darrin Sweat and his wife Shawna, Terry McCandless Sr. and his wife Dawn, Kimmy McCandless and his wife Jacqui, and Bobby McCandless and his wife Cindy (deceased); his grandchildren, Brandon Howard Perry, Daredeth Rachelle Perry, Alissa Marie Perry, Hailey Marie Kaydance Perry, and Casey Lane Perry; and his great-grandchildren, Abraham Perry, Aliya Rose Salce, Ariyanna Cecilia Salce, and Adelyn Yelena Salce.
