He is survived by: his children, Richard Hernandez, Reginald Hernandez (Kelly), Rudy Hernandez, Rose Anne Chapa (Bob) and Cathy Hernandez (Steve Herod); his siblings, Sotero Hernandez (Esther) of San Antonio and Maria Garza of Hondo; his grandchildren, David Chapa (Kim), Laura Turley (Mike), Courtney Larkin (James), Nicholas Hernandez, Richard Tapia, Clayton Hernandez, Sadie Darnell and Sydney Herod; and his great grandchildren, David Chapa II (Madelyn), Gabriel Chapa, Amelia Larkin, Catherine Larkin and Harley Tapia.
A funeral Mass will be held on Friday, October 9th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the Holy Cross Catholic Church (310 FM 2200, D'Hanis, TX 78850). The inurnment will be held on Friday, October 9th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Inurnment San Francisco Cemetery.
