He is survived by: his wife Vicky Miller Whiddon; his stepchildren, Shea Orta and Gary Bessent; his daughter-in-law Amanda Kolafa; his grandson Roy Bessent; his son-in-law Jose Orta, Jr.; his sister-in-law Connie Miller; and his siblings, Melisa Whiddon Smith, Virginia Thiele and Adam Smith. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
