He was predeceased by : his parents, W. S. Fortune and Nona Lee Antley Fortune. He is survived by : his wife Jackie Fortune of Corrigan; his children, Walter L. Fortune (Bernadette) of Lake Jackson, TX and Tracy Cobb (Mike) of Corrigan; and his grandchildren, John Fortune and Chris Cobb (Lexie).

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made in his memory to the First Baptist Church Corrigan Building Fund or to the Corrigan Volunteer Fire Department.
