He was predeceased by: his father Ernest Metting, Sr.; and his sister Irene Brieden. He is survived by: his wife Laurie Buchhorn Metting; his children, Dustin Metting (Meredith) of Cuero, Austin Metting (Jamie) of Temple, Thomas Diehl (Amber) of Victoria, Timothy Diehl (Jenni) of Yorktown, Teresa Hiles (Chris) of Cuero and Lacie Metting of Cuero; his grandchildren, Clayton, Devon, Tabitha, Ethan, Cadan, Evan, Kellan, Madelynn, Gavin, Harper, Kylie, Turner, Julia, Graham and Karlie; his great grandchild Amelia Ann; and his siblings, Grace Binz (Dwight), JoAnn Reitz (Maurice) and Ernest Metting, Jr. (Carla). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, cousins and close friends.
Visitation was held on Thursday, December 11th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Freund Funeral Home (213 N Gonzales St, Cuero, TX 77954). A funeral service was held on Friday, December 12th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the St. Paul Lutheran Church (234 N Gohmert St, Yorktown, TX 78164).
