He was predeceased by: his parents, James Jessie and Carrie Malissa Neill Kerss; his sisters, Mozelle Kerss, Catherine Kerss and Urieline; his brother-in-law James Ferril; and his great grandchild Elizabeth Faith Vann.
He is survived by: his wife Sarah Gradell Minter Kerss; and his children, Thomas Kerss (Tana), Tena Kerss, Mary Burchfield (Carl) and Melissa Duncan (Michael). He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and a host of other family and friends.
