Tristen Kelley wrote a sympathy message

“Mr. Herbst played a highly influential role in my early years as a Boy Scout. He generously dedicated his time every Tuesday, along with many weekends, to mentoring us. Through his guidance, he provided not only me but many others with valuable life skills and lessons that have continued to shape us as we’ve grown older. I can sincerely say he had a remarkable ability to bring the group together especially when he made his well known peach cobbler, which everyone looked forward to. -Tristen K.”

Patrick Kelley wrote a sympathy message

“My heartfelt condolences go out to the family of Mr. Herbst. Thank you for allowing your husband and dad to spend time with troop in West Dallas. My son Tristen was a scout. I was a Troop leader as well. I will never forget the peach cobbler in the Dutch Oven with ice cream near the campfire. He was a kind man who gave his time and money to help others. We are all truly better people because of him.. Praying for peace and comfort - Patrick Kelley”
