He was predeceased by: his parent Hardie Dee Nelson; his brothers, Damon Nelson and Jerry Nelson; and his son Bryan Dee Nelson. He is survived by: his wife JoAnna Harbuck Nelson of Quitman; his children, Janet Nelson Hester (Tom) of Winnsboro, Nancy Nelson Jackson (Tim) of Quitman and Russell Scott Nelson (Cindy) of McGregor, Texas.; and his grandchildren, Matthew Jackson (Amanda) of Lindale, Anna Zachary of Bettie, Elizabeth Jackson Miller (Michael) of Bettie, Adam Nelson of Dallas and Ben Nelson.
