He was predeceased by: his parents, Lester Raymond Saffelder and Annie Ruth Patterson; his wife Joan Annette Saffelder; and his brother James Skyrm. He is survived by: his children, Lori Ann Ruiz and John Raymond Saffelder; and his grandchildren, Ashley Evans, Courtney Ruiz, Dakota Ruiz, Elijah Ruiz, Layla Saffelder and Kaleb Saffelder.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 4th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the West-Hurtt Funeral Home (217 S Hampton Rd, DeSoto, TX 75115). The military honors will be held on Wednesday, November 4th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the Ft. Worth National Cemetery (2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy, Dallas, TX 75224).
