He is survived by: his wife Frankie Walton; his siblings, Myra McCloud, Wilma Hurd (Phillip), Sharon Shead, Charlotte Smith (Ronnie), James Walton (Jeanette) and Dennis Walton; his children, Byron Walton, Sandra Walton and Cynthia Walton-Thompson (Phillip); his grandchildren, Elisia Wilkerson, Karenda Walton, Curtis Mays, Yatice Mays, Phillip Thompson Jr. and Michelle Mays; his great grandchildren, Bria, Aislyn, Karia, Jaylen, Keland, Kamron and Carter; and his great great grandchildren, Bronx and Keland Jr.. He is also survived by relatives, students and friends.
