He was predeceased by: his spouse Charlie Z. Burrell; his daughter Patricia Hayes; and his siblings, Percy Wilborn, Helen Mayfield, Aubrey Tanner, Jr., Llewellyn Tanner, Mary Lou Tanner-Sneed and Willie Kelley.
He is survived by: his children, William B. Young, Jeffrey H. Tanner, Paula S. Tanner, Nathaniel Kelley, Natalie D. Tanner, Beverly T. McNairy of Ferris, Jimmie F. Tanner, Sr. (Janet) and Phillip T. Tanner, Sr. (DeAnna) of Dallas; and his sister-in-law Bertha Kelley. He is also survived by ten grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
He attended Christian Heights Adult Daycare during Covid until Dec. 2025 when his health began to decline and attending became a physical challenge.
