She was predeceased by: her parents, Roy Nixon and Laura Thomas Nixon; her brothers, Raymond and Dean Nixon; and her husband Butch Straw.

She is survived by: her sibling's children, Richard Wayne Nixon (Rhonda) of Edmond, Oklahoma, David Allen Nixon (Darcie) of Newman Lake Washington, Michael Nixon (Jeannie) of Texas and Nancy Barker of Oak Leaf, TX; her sister-in-law Carolyn Jean Nixon; and her friends, Mary Lou and Joyce.

“I am deeply saddened by the passing of my dear Aunt Oleta Straw on July 4, 2025. Though she never had children of her own, she loved her family deeply, and I was blessed to be counted among them. I cherish memories of visiting her, especially the time as a child when I kept jumping into the pool and had to wear a life preserver. Distance kept us apart, but I was always eager to hear about her through Mom. She will be dearly missed. David (Darcie) Nixon, son of Raymond Nixon”
