He is survived by: his children, Buddy Dyess, Steven Dyess and Sandra Dyess; his grandchildren, Rachel Burkett (Kyle), Krystal Schreier (Sam), Sterling Sledge (Ellen) and Jamie Canright (Michael); his great grandchildren, Gage Causey (Jenna), Khloe Canright, Devan Canright and Matthew Burkett; his great great grandchildren, Iris Causey and Thomas Causey; his sibling's children, Jennifer Dyess (William), Laura Sinclair (Steve), James Dyess (Rhonda), John Cox, Alan Wayne Shelfer (Pat) and David Shelfer (Carolyn); his great-nieces, Emily Sinclair, Phoebe Sinclair, Caitlin Dyess, Jillian West (Darren), Courtney Francis (Fred) and Ashley Lawrence (Jeremy); his great-nephew Wesley Sinclair; his cousin Sandy King; Savannah and Tristan.

A funeral service was held on Tuesday, December 9th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Anderson-Clayton-Gonzalez Funeral Home (1111 Military Pkwy, Mesquite, TX 75149). A reception was held on Tuesday, December 9th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery (2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy, Dallas, TX 75211). A committal service was held on Tuesday, December 9th 2025 from 2:30 PM to 2:45 PM at the same location.
