He is survived by: his children, Chris Nelson MD, Thomas Nelson (Amy) of David Nelson, MD and Miriam "Mimi" Nelson; his grandchildren, Adam Nelson, Allison Nelson Hudson (Peter), Molly Nelson Weatherly (Kyle) and Dylan Nelson (Lauren); and his great grandchildren, Natalie Nelson, Micah and Lilian Weatherly.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, October 9th 2026 from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM at the Fort Worth National Cemetery (2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy, Dallas, TX 75211).
