It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Jack Unkel of Dayton, Texas, born in Smyrna, Tennessee, who passed away on April 13, 2024, at the age of 96, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by : his parents, Eva Lee Gregory Unkel and Leo Paul Unkel; his sister Louise Miles (Kenneth); his great grandchild Jeremiah Ellis Minnaar; and his parents-in-law, Myrtle Derrick Walker and Edgar Patterson Walker.

He is survived by : his wife Margaret Unkel; his daughters, Betty Unkel, Donna Dugat (Anthony), Barbara Reed and Debbie Coulliette (James); his grandchildren, Kasey Mobley (Jason), Kelby Reed (Kristin), Tara Harris (Andrew), Candice Mize (Dean), Karly Scott (Jerry), Maegan Minnaar (Dewaldt), Philip Dugat (Katelyn), Mason Dugat and Tagen Coulliette; his great grandchildren, Raegan and Rylan Mobley; his grandchildren, Heidi, Norah, Eloise, Gabrielle Reed, Joshua, Noah, Luke Harris, Naomi, Micah, Esther Mize, Aubrey, Allie Scott, Lexi Minnaar and Simon Dugat; and his sisters-in-law, Jan Dickson (Gene), Pat Carpenter (Kirk) and Laverne Koletich. He is also survived by numerous other relatives and friends.

Visitation was held on Thursday, April 18th 2024 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Dayton - Pace-Stancil Funeral Home (1304 N Cleveland St, Dayton, TX 77535). A funeral service was held on Friday, April 19th 2024 at 2:00 PM at the First Baptist Church (202 E Houston St, Dayton, TX 77535). A burial was held on Friday, April 19th 2024 at the Magnolia Park Cemetery.
