With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of John Patrick Nelson of De Kalb, Texas, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on October 11, 2025 at the age of 83. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of John Patrick Nelson to pay them a last tribute.
He was predeceased by: his parents, John DeWitt Nelson and Johnnie Marie Miller Nelson; and his brothers, James T. Nelson and Thomas Paul Nelson. He is survived by: his wife Linda Biddle Nelson of De Kalb, Texas; his children, Randy Shipp of Texarkana, Texas, Stephanie Nelson of Fort Worth, Sherry Nelson of Texarkana and Laura Shipp of Texarkana, Arkansas; his grandchildren, Morgan, Brittany, Keith, Andrew, Christian, Austin, Jackson and Katherine; and his great grandchild Bennett. He is also survived by numerous other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 16th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Bates Family Funeral Home (601 E Front St, De Kalb, TX 75559). A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 17th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
