He was predeceased by: his parents, Naomi (Russell) and Gentle, Sr. (Ronald); his daughter Samatha Gentle; his grandson William Gentle; his son-in-law Gary Dobbs; his siblings, Glenn, Paul, Carmen Gentle (Sissy) and Maxine Sellers; his mother-in-law Alpha Lunsford; and his in-laws, Ronnie and Peggy Jane Lunsford.
He is survived by: his wife Rose Gentle (Lunsford); his children, Patrice Dobbs, Thais Gentle (Keith Hyde), Johnny Gentle (Sharon), Lisa Palicio, Renee Lawley, Ryan Lawley (Angela) and Robin Cowgill (Shawn); his pet Isabelle; and his siblings, Patrica Bell (Eddie), David Gentle (Janet), Sandy Jackson, Connie Koster and Barbara Gentle. He is also survived by 19 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
A celebration of life was held on Saturday, September 12th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Aguilar Funeral Services (912 TX-37, Mt Vernon, TX 75457).
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to offset medical and funeral expenses.
