She was predeceased by: her parents, J. W. Kennedy and Vera Kennedy; her husband Billy J. Cates; and her siblings, Jim Kennedy and Barbara Kennedy.

She is survived by: her sons, Michael Cates (Rena Cates) of Bells and Kevin Cates of Denison; her grandchildren, Lindsay Cates (Ronnie Bonja) of Pottsboro and Josh Cates (Samantha Cates) of Trenton, Texas; her great grandchildren, Maverick, Duke Cates, Avery and Daniel Bonja; her brothers, Ron Kennedy (Glenda Kennedy) and Rick Kennedy of Terrell, Texas; and her sister-in-law Janice Kennedy of Sachse, Texas..
