He was predeceased by: his parents, John Sam Brown and Mary Catherine Updyke; his former wife Ella; his siblings, Dick, Harry and Catherine Ann; and his brothers-in-law, Mac Marshall and Floyd Houchins.

He is survived by: his siblings, Judy, Tom (Mary Catherine) and Cuff (Margie); his son Joe Everett (Jody) of Savannah; his wife Lorraine Farias Brown; his daughter Karen Catagnus of Richardson, Texas; his children-in-law, Molly and Philip; his stepchildren, Johnny Burston (Loretta), Richard Stephens (Trina) and Amanda Kongthong (Jag); his grandchildren, Sierra Brown, Philip Catagnus, Clara Gonzales, Payton Catagnus, Nicholas Brown, Parker Catagnus, Preston Catagnus, Paul Catagnus, Sam Brown, John Paul Stephens, Ashley Larson, Jag Kongthong, Hannah Stephens, Reagan Stephens, Christian Kongthong, Dominic Kongthong, Josie Kongthong, Alexandra Burston, Reese Stephens and Richie Burston; and his great grandchildren, Ella, Indie, River, Audrey, Heidi and Zayda. He is also survived by seven children born to his parents, he adored being an older brother-in-law.
