With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Mildred Catherine Dawson of Denton, Texas, who passed away on April 1, 2023 at the age of 93. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, Mildred Masters McCarty and William Alfred McCarty; her grandparents, W. N., Lula Masters of Denton, William A. and Beverly McCarty of Quitman, Mississippi.; her brother William "Bill" A. McCarty Jr. (Elinor "Poppy") of Amarillo, TX; her husband David F. Dawson; her children, Dr. Dan Paul Dawson, David R. Dawson (Linda), Sharon Ann Dawson, Don K. Dawson (Aurora), John W. Dawson and Catherine Sue Dawson Prather (Rich Prather); her grandchildren, Damon Boswell, Tara Leigh Moore, Nathan Dawson, Isaac Dawson-Cabrera, Colby Dawson, Miranda Dawson and Mariah Dawson; and her stepgrandchildren, Evan Froeschl and Megan Froeschl.

In 1986, she received the Honor Professor Award from the Meadows Foundation.
