It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Opal Blakley of Denton, Texas, born in Morrilton, Arkansas, who passed away on December 7, 2023, at the age of 86, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by : her parents, James Stricklen and Elsie Mcfall Stricklen; her siblings, Latha Rogers and Samuel Stricklen; her great grandchild Jacob Anderson; and her grandmother Renee Canady.

She is survived by : her sister Nannie Nickerson; her children, Richard Anderson (Debbie) of Concord, NC, Charles Anderson (Vickie) of Barnwell, SC, Kevin Anderson (Rachelle) of Lewisville, TX, Sonya Mondrey (Anthony) of Lewisville, TX and Donna Canady of Hutto, TX.; her cousin Delores Campbell; and her great-uncles and great-aunts, Dionne Ersery and Rockford. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and a host of relatives and friends.

Joanne Yurick wrote a sympathy message

“I will miss my loving next door neighbor so much. I am heartbroken. I am sorry I could not manage to open my door to express my sympathy, it was just too emotionally hard for me and I didnt want to fall apart. I will miss catching her sweeping her sidewalk or coming out to say hi to my dog, Domino. Our last conversation was about how happy she was, content with her life and waiting for her son to get her groceries. She loved her family. Rest in peace Opal. Joanne Yurick”
