He was predeceased by: his parents, Hugh Hardin Witmer and Minnie Lora Storey Witmer; and his sister Sue Renshaw. He is survived by: his wife Rosemary Michie Witmer; his children, Margaret Ann Witmer (Meg), Lora Witmer Willis and Byron Witmer, Jr. (Liza Witmer); his grandchildren, Katherine Witmer, Luke Witmer (Katie), Shelby Witmer, Emma Witmer, Jessica Willis, Melissa Willis, Alex Gulledge (Emily), Doug Gulledge, Betsy Greener (Jason) and John Faile (Katy); his great grandchildren, Hank, Wyatt Gulledge, Sarah Beth, Thomas Greener, Ryder and Knox Faile; his brother-in-law Charles Michie (Laura); his nephew David Michie (Vanessa); his niece Melissa Michie; his great-nieces and great-nephews, Aragorn, Drake and Bronson; his nieces, Cathy Roberts, Karen Larue and Susan Renshaw; and his nephew Alan Renshaw.
