We are sad to announce that on February 5, 2021 we had to say goodbye to Herbert Samuel Travis of Desoto, Texas, born in Waco, Texas. Hebert enjoyed sailing on his boat the Mistral with his grandchildren Thomas and Matthew Travis many voyages they shared together. Sam also loved to visit the Nasa Space Center in Houston, Texas. Sam shared his love for space travel with his grandchildren. In 1982 Sam founded Luther Lane Mobile Park in GunBarrel City, Tx where he made a friend Skip Pugh. Sam helped many people including low income families his tenants. Sam donated to many charities such as the Maybank atheletics department, and the Native American college fund.
He was predeceased by : his parents, Thomas Travis and Ruby Mae Travis; and his brothers, Charles Travis and Richard Travis. He is survived by : his children, Cheryl Travis Farmer, Robin Travis, Janis Travis, Tommy E. Travis and Leigh Travis Hickey; his brother Ed Travis; and his grandchildren, Thomas A. Travis, Mathew Travis, Drew Travis, Dylan Travis, Travis Hickey, Melissa Findley and Tisha Kiser. He is also survived by great grandchildren.
