We are sad to announce that on April 3, 2024, at the age of 90, Mary John Clayton of Devers, Texas, born in San Augustine, Texas passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by : her parents, Willie "Bill" Hughes and Lois Powell Hughes; her husband Earl Clayton; her daughter Kathryn Clayton Garner; her sister Willie Mae Hughes Wright; and her nieces, Martha Partin and Linda Powell.

She is survived by : her daughter Phyllis Clayton Grimes; her grandchildren, Cynde Sturm, James Garner and Jo Kathryn Garner; her great grandchildren, Mackenzie, Ryland, Emersen Sturm (Benji), Jacob, Noah and Johno Keith; and her sisters, Betty Ratcliff and Sandra Hughes. She is also survived by her sisters, daughters, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Visitation was held on Saturday, April 6th 2024 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the First Baptist Church of Devers (106 Ave A, Devers, TX 77538). A funeral service was held on Sunday, April 7th 2024 at 2:00 PM at the same location.

In lieu of sending flowers, we ask that you consider donating to the First Baptist Church of Devers for their Senior Adult Ministry and their Van Fund for transportation.
