He was predeceased by : his parents, Dan Herrmann and Evelyn Herrmann; his brother Clyde Herrmann; and his siblings-in-law, Stan Reinhard and Jennifer Rothe.

He is survived by : his children, Burt (Lacy), Joshua (Jacqulynn) and Brandi McDonald (Will); his grandchildren, Summer McQuiller (Mordy), Tyler Morrill, Mabry Herrmann, Layton Herrmann, Kenna Herrmann, Gabriel McDonald, Cassius Herrmann, Christian Herrmann, Cadence Herrmann, Naomi McDonald and Tyson Herrmann; his great grandchild Addisyn McQuiller; his sisters, Elaine Reinhard of Geronimo, Betsy Herrmann of Hondo and Arlene Marshall (Steve) of Conroe; his siblings-in-law, Charlie Rothe (Janet), Tom Rothe (Marcy), Rick Rothe, Mike Rothe (Shannon) and Peggy Bendele (Bill) of Hondo; and his caregivers, Brenda Morrow and Elva Garza. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

“We were so sorry to hear about Dennis' passing in your Christmas card. Our fondest memories of him were times we spent in San Antonio at the Village Green Apts and how much he loved to macrame when he broke his arm. Merle loved playing tennis with him and he was truly a good friend. We are so fortunate to have known Dennis and share the good times of our youth. With love and sympathy, Christine and Merle Leiker”
