He was loved and cherished by many people including: wife: Carolyn (Meador) Schmidt; daughters and sons-in-law: Cheryl (Wes) Suiter and Michelle (Jeff) Stephens; son: Chuck Schmidt; stepsons and daughters-in-law: Jeffrey (Allison) Hearne and Royce (Deborah) Hearne; brother: Jerry Schmidt; parents: Katherine Annabelle (Cline) and Clark Martin Schmidt; predeceased brothers: Jimmy Schmidt and Doyel Guillory; predeceased sisters: Dorothy Hale and Mary Alice Craddock; officiant: Pastor David Goodwin; 11 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 2nd 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Carroway Funeral Home - Lufkin (2704 S John Redditt Dr, Lufkin, TX 75904). A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 2nd 2026 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the same location. A burial will be held on Friday, October 2nd 2026 at 3:00 PM at the New York Baptist Church Cemetery (6106 Co Rd 4334, Larue, TX 75770).
