It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of David Ortiz in Dumas, Texas, born in Walsenburg, Colorado, who passed away on December 7, 2025, at the age of 58, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Arthur Ortiz and Frances Gallegos; his stepparents, Robert Gallegos and Mary Ortiz; his brother-in-law Duane Montoya; and his niece Marissa Ortiz.
He is survived by: his daughter Noelia Samples of Stanley, NM; his siblings, Charles Ortiz of Amarillo, TX, Frank Ortiz (Dianne) of Canyon Lake, TX, Joshua Ortiz (Marisol Mendoza) of Dumas, TX, Connie Montoya of Dumas, TX, Minnie Gallegos of Dumas, TX and Roberta Munoz (Gabriel) of Dumas, TX.; and his close friends, Tom Castro, Darren Wolf, Sandra Zuniga and Tin Man. He is also survived by numerous aunts and uncles: 13 nieces and nephews: 29 great-nieces and nephews: and 9 great-great-nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 13th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Encounter Church (10 Elm Ave, Dumas, TX 79029).
