He was predeceased by: his parents, Jose Hernandez and Anita Hernandez; his great great grandchildren, Kota Gray Vega and Ali Reyes; and his former wife Ana Maria Hernandez.

He is survived by: his wife Rosa Galvan Hernandez; his children, Delores Guerrero, Alicia Vega, Esmeralda Solis, Leopoldo Hernandez Jr., Graciela Arellano and Raquel Hernandez; and his sister Maria Louisa Balboa of Yuma, AZ. He is also survived by grandfather who cherished 19 grandchildren, 57 great-grandchildren and 30 great-great grandchildren, brothers and sisters, as well as many extended family members and dear friends.
