She was predeceased by: her parents, Adelaido Potosi (Juana Mendoza) and San Luis Potosi; her husband Timoteo Garate; and her sons, Roberto and Javier Garate.
She is survived by: her children, Carlos Garate (Maria Elva), Ramon Garate (Elvia), Estella Villarreal (Onesimo), Soila Chavez, Rose Marques, Elizabeth Tamez (Daniel), Maria Cristela Gomez (Adan) and Elma Garate; her daughters-in-law, Gloria and Nelda; her brother Gregorio Mendoza; and her sister-in-law Bricia Mendoza of Weslaco, Texas.. She is also survived by 30 grandchildren; 60 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren.
