He is survived by: his wife Esther Pena Smithwick; his children, Patricia Smithwick (LeRoy Zarate), Jessie Smithwick, Jr., Jacob Smithwick (Rebecca), Stephen Smithwick (Esperanza) and Jason Smithwick (Mariel); and his siblings, Paul Smikthwick (Mary) and Frances Smithwick. He is also survived by 20 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
