He was predeceased by: his wife Maria Sosa Chavez; his parents, Cristino Chavez and Fermina Urtiaga Chavez; his uncle Manuel; his aunt Delfina Chavez; and his siblings, Cecilia Rivera, Ramona Hinojos, Ofelia Ledesma, Gilberto Salinas, Efren and Jose Luis Chavez.
He is survived by: his sons, Gilbert Chavez, Mike Chavez, Rey Chavez and Louie Chavez; his granddaughter Leanna Chavez; his sister Virginia Andrus; Maggie. He is also survived by his family, neighbors and friends.
