She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, Jack Gaines and Alice "Gene" Gaines; her husband Herman Gomez; her children, Grace Gomez, Herman Benjamin Gomez and Jacqueline Swopes; her son-in-law Paul Swopes; her grandchildren, Audrey and Andrew Swopes; her sisters, Benja Haberlein, Nancy Gaines and Jackie Gaines; and her nephew Gene Haberlein. She was also cherished by extended family, friends, and neighbors.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Humane Society of El Paso in her honor—a tribute to her lifelong love for pets.
