He was predeceased by: his parents, Ignacio Mata and Irene Mata; his wife Luz Elena Mata; and his siblings, Ignacio Mata, Angela Armida Mata, Enrique Mata and Celia Mata.
He is survived by: his son Israel Mata (Jennifer); his grandson Jacob Mata; and his siblings, Tomas Mata, Bertha Mata, Gloria Alvarado and Jesus Mata (Lucy). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
