He was predeceased by: his parents, Francisca Minjarez Reta and Francisco Reta; and his son Jose Alfredo Reta (Teresa Reta). He is survived by: his grandsons, Gerardo Estrada Jr. and Francisco Cortez; his wife Leonor Simental Reta; and his children, Ida Esparza (Arturo Cortez), Octavio (Diana Reta), Francisco (Elouise Reta), Martha (Oscar Rodriguez), Victor (Patsy Reta), Nellie Reta, Maria Lourdes Reta (Veronica Rodriguez) and Marco Antonio Reta (Ruben Gallardo). He is also survived by 19 Grandchildren, 19 Great Grandchildren, and two Great-Great Grandchildren.
