He was predeceased by: his wife Ernestina; his parents, William and Else; and his siblings, Hedy, Herbert, Ursula and Renate.
He is survived by: his children, Richard Stevens (Lynda), Elizabeth Fitzhugh (Michael), Laura Provencio (Freddy) and Robert Stevens (Lynnann); his grandchildren, Marcus Holguin, Ellyse Provencio, Freddy Provencio, Jr. and Neida Villagomez (Javier); his great grandchild Isleya Luna Villagomez; and his brother Reiner (Hans-Jörg) of Berlin. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
