She was predeceased by: her parents, Johnnie Powell Sr. and Falva Brown-Powell; and her siblings, Robert B. Powell, R. T. Powell, James A. Powell, Henrietta Chambers, Barbara Jean Rivers and Rosa Mae Hill.

She is survived by: her husband John Henry; her children, Terrance "Joe" and Lisa Gaye; her grandchildren, Justin Henell McDonald and Sabra Kinsey Baker; and her sister Joyce Ann Barrs. She is also survived by other relatives and friends.
