She was predeceased by: her parents, Charles Collins and Joan Collins; her grandson Brandon Followell; and her nephew Collin Breckenridge. She is survived by: her siblings, Cristal Breckenridge and Kevin Collins; her husband Anthony Salles Modesto, Jr.; her daughters, Monica (Clint Followell) and Elisa Modesto (Abhi Anthati); her grandsons, David and Asher Followell; and her daughters, Nuggles and Peanut.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that a memoriam be given to an education fund for Melissa's grandchildren, present and future.
