We announce the death of Sandra LaVerne Mitchell of Elm Mott, Texas, who passed away on August 9, 2026, at the age of 82. Sandra will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. She was predeceased by: her parents, Aldern Allen York and Essie Marcella York (Coble); her siblings, George Allen York, William Michael York, Clinton Wayne York, Linda Pearl Knaub and Mary Arlene Holder; her husband Willis Andrews Mitchell; and her grandson Richard Angel Garcia.
She is survived by: her children, Coy York (Tracy), Craig Shelton and Marcella Shelton-Chavez (Mark); her grandchildren, Christopher York, Aaron Moreno, Brandon Moreno, Ashley May, Destinee Shelton, Riva Hart (Shelton) and Joshua York; and her brothers, Bobby York (Tracy), Alton Leon York, Clifford York (Michelle) and Robert York.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in memory of Sandra Leverne to Providence Hospice - Community Healthcare of Texas at 6700 Sanger Ave, Waco, TX 76710.
