He was predeceased by : his parents, Albert H. Smith and Carolla Smith (Summers); his wife Jean; his son-in-law Gary Jennings; and his brothers, Arlin "Tex" Smith and Maurice Smith.

He is survived by : his children, Steven Smith (Tammy) of Elfrida, Arizona and Sheila Jennings of Farwell, Texas; and his grandchildren, Chance Smith (Iliana), Will Smith (Trish), Shaye Clemson (Tyler), Kyle Jennings (Lesley), Kory Jennings (Raeona) and Keila Jennings. He is also survived by his fourteen great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
