He was predeceased by: his parents, Jack Bowers and Clariece Bowers. He is survived by: his wife Helen Joyce Wheeler Bowers; his children, Melissa Letterman, Bill Bowers (Tanya), Mary Benavidez (Paul) and Margaret Bowers; his grandchildren, Callie Hicks, Paxton, Tyler Benavidez, Jacob Letterman, Anna, Maggie Letterman, Jackson Bowers, Jamieson Bowers and Graham Bowers; his great grandchild Lottie Mae; and his sister Carolyn Ann Bulaich (Larry). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
