He is survived by: his wife Beverly; his sister Joyce Tierce; his children, Malinda Ledbetter (Steve) and Byron Mathis (Teresa); his grandchildren, Brittany Pitts (Clay) and Justin Mathis (Emily); and his stepgrandchildren, Maquaid, Trenton Cole, Erica and Caitlin. He is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
