He was predeceased by: his parents, Horace B. Nelson and Ruby Byas Nelson; and his wife Gloria Nelson. He is survived by: his daughters, Carolyn Mendoza (Pat), Pam Barnett (Bill) and Debbie London; his grandchildren, Amanda (Tim), Shane, Krista and Amy; and his great grandchildren, Katarina, Christiana, Gabriella, Theodore and Freya.
