He was predeceased by: his parents, King Solomon Stephens and Pearl Hick Wortham; his sisters, Mae Ella Ester and Eleanor Marie Stephens; his niece Renee Campbell; and his brothers, Tommy Lee Hanks, Clifton Hanks and Harvey Lee Hanks.
He is survived by: his wife Mattie Powell Stephens; his daughter Cecillia Annette Stephens; his siblings, Clyde Hanks, Mary Russell and Bobby Joe Wortham (Shirley); his nephews, Gregory Ester, Edwin Stephens, Fredrick "Chopper" Stephens, Aaron Angton and Demarcus Duncan; and his grandchild Jaylen Miller. He is also survived by other relatives and dear friends.
Visitation was held on Friday, September 25th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM at the Emanuel Funeral Home-Palestine (1721 W Oak St, Palestine, TX 75801). A funeral service was held on Saturday, September 26th 2026 at 12:00 PM at the Smith Chapel (421 W Coronaca St, Palestine, TX 75803). A burial was held on Saturday, September 26th 2026 at the Pinery Cemetery.
