Minerva J Cravey Whisenant, age 62, of Silsbee, Texas, passed away on Monday, July 14, 1952, in Fred, Texas. Born on May 6, 1890, in Fred, they were the daughter of Edward Edwin Cravey and Eliza Jane “Liza” Freeman Cravey. Minerva spent most of their life in Silsbee before retiring to The Camp in Silsbee, Texas, between Burkeville and Hemphill. They were employed by Driving town from all around the world. Minerva is survived by her husband Alvin W. Whisenant, their sons, John Whisenant, and his wife, Nelmore of Silsbee; as well as their 25 grandchildren of Silsbee. They were preceded in death by their parents and siblings. A gathering of family and friends was held on Friday, July 18, 1952, at Broussard's Mortuary in Silsbee. A memorial service took place on Sunday evening at 6:00 PM at the church. Burial followed on Saturday, July 19, 1952, at Frank’s Branch Cemetery in Silsbee. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Minerva’s name to the J.R. Huffman Public Library, 375 Sabine Street, Hemphill, Texas 75948-9695.
