He was predeceased by: his parents, James Burton McDonald and Janice Junell McDonald. He is survived by: his wife Lisa McDonald; his daughter Ashley McCormick (Kyle) of Kerrville; his grandson Beau McCormick; his stepsons, Cameron Cook (Emily) of San Antonio and Collin Cook (Tori) of Austin; his sister Karin Reyna (Oscar) of Pflugerville; his niece Jessica Thrasher (Benjamin); his nephew Mason Reyna (Cathryn) of Decorah, Iowa.; Carter Thrasher of Midlothian.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the NICU at Christus Children's Hospital in San Antonio, or the charity of one's choice.
