With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Roy McKens of Freeport, Texas, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on June 5, 2025 at the age of 84. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
As Roy departs from our midst, his spirit ascends to join the cosmic dance of stars, a shimmering constellation of memories that will forever grace the night sky of the hearts of those who loved Roy. Though Roy may no longer walk beside us, his legacy lives on — a testament to the enduring power of love to transcend the boundaries of time and space.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Lillie Mae Williams and Leroy Mickens; his wife Billie Jo Mickens; and his siblings, Ruby Jewel Adams, Dorothy Williams, Isaac Mickens and James Bullock.
He is survived by: his friend Roy; his sons, Anthony Roy Mickens of Hearne and Adam Troy Mickens of Houston, Texas; his sisters, Berniece Edwards of Hearne and Lucinda Butler of Houston; and his close friend Wilber Bonner. He is also survived by seven grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews.
