He was predeceased by: his parents, John William and Mary Catherine Schmitz (Bezner); and his siblings, Leonard, Freddie, Johnny, Sally Theimer, Gertie Horn and Rosalie Cox.
He is survived by: his children, Thomas Lee Schmitz (Debbie), Kevin Jerome Schmitz (Beth), Rosemary Schmitz Martinez (Oscar), Jeanne Marie Schmitz, John William Schmitz and Marianne Schmitz Roland; his grandchildren, Sarah Tessmar, Rachael Walker, Diana Smith, Anna Schmitz, William Schmitz, Maggie Schmitz, Parker Martinez, Jared Martinez, Marisa Martinez, Anna Roland, Kenneth Roland and Audrey Roland; his great grandchildren, Ashlynn, Evah, Luke, Dylan, Stella and Emoree; and his sister Marcy Wilde.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 20th 2025 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at the J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home (602 Lindsay St, Gainesville, TX 76240). A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 20th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the same location. A burial will be held on Monday, October 20th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the St. Peter's Cemetery (424 Main St, Lindsay, TX 76250).
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to a local addiction recovery center or veteran's organization in Lee Roy's honor.
