He was predeceased by: his parents, William Paul Karger and Mary Belle Lee; and his sister Virginia Lee Tucker. He is survived by: his wife Bonnye Ann Karger of Galveston; his children, Kristina Pestana of Galveston and Fritz William Karger of Houston; his brother Stephen Mark Karger (Kate) of Houston; and his grandsons, Maluhia Gabriel Pestana of Galveston and Hamana Maxi Pestana of Galveston. He is also survived by numerous other relatives and friends.
He was instrumental and was the Chairman of the committee that was successful in getting the Silk Stocking District Registered with the National Historic Foundation, an accomplishment that many Galvestonians are very proud of.
