We announce the death of Bruce McCumber of Gary, Texas, who passed away on September 30, 2026, at the age of 65. He was predeceased by: his parents, Benjamin Franklin and Ida Myrtlene Hoppe McCumber; and his father-in-law Harry Smith. He is survived by: his wife Karen Kay Smith; his children, Mickel McCumber (Christina), Bryan McCumber (Melissa Masters), Chad Smith (Allison Charles), Cody Thornburgh (Josh), Samantha McCumber, Kaydence Smith, Serenity Smith and Makenzie Smith; his daughter-in-law Melissa Mullins; his grandchildren, Madison, Mason, Mechelle, Tuff, Brylee, Keyaira, Zy'Leigh, Kamdyn, Cheanne, Arianna, Wyatt, Jaxson, Lia, Kimber, Hayven and Braylen; his great grandchildren, River, Maggie, Oliver, Spencer and Mavis; his sister Dolly Hodge; his mother-in-law Mary Smith; and his aunt Betty Gragg (Roger).
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 5th 2026 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home (1131 TX-149, Carthage, TX 75633). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 6th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the same location. A burial will be held on Tuesday, October 6th 2026 at 2:30 PM at the Gary Cemetery (176 Bobcat Trail, Gary City, TX 75643).
